On the bumper there are 2 screws each side of the bumper holding it into the wheel arch. Then behind the bumper there are 4 nuts you have to undo. These are not easy to get to. These are located as 2 each side, in line with the part in between the headlight and grill really. Once these are undone it just pulls off.
How to remove the bumper cover on a 98 Escort ZX2 - Ford Forum - Enthusiast Forums for Ford Owners
Asked by Wiki User. Removing the rear bumper is a relatively easy project. It's best to have two people, but you can probably get this project done with one person if you use extra care. I recently replaced the rear bumper of my Ford Escort LX Hatchback, but I think the bumper assembly is the same for , , , , , Ford Escorts. First, there are six retaining nuts that will need to be removed, three on each side of the car. If you look under the car you will quickly see two of the retaining nuts behind the bumper on the passenger and driver side. Remove these two lower retaining nuts first, that way you will eliminate the chance of the bumper falling on you.
